ACTIVE SMALL SHIP ADVENTURE CRUISING IN ALASKA & BRITISH COLUMBIA

Haul Out Crew
Each spring the Sea Wolf is hauled out in Port Townsend, WA for scheduled upgrades, repair & maintenance. These historic old boats will last another 100 years given proper shipwright attention. Planking, painting, varnishing and engine room readiness are all part of her annual haul out.She is lucky to have a dedicated crew whom loves old wooden boats and knows how to care for them. It is an art!

Owner, Captain (200 Ton Master), Naturalist and Conservationist

Kimber has had a variety of life experiences with people, horses and wildlife. She has participated in many equine and wildlife studies, nurturing her love for nature and the conservation of wildlife and habitat. A driving passion of hers is providing opportunities for adventure and immersion in the wilderness for people of all abilities. Alaska has always been in her heart. …Sailing on a romantic historical ship plying the coasts of Alaska, British Columbia and the San Juan Islands of Washington, showing people the wonders of nature - what better life could there be? BOO "THE BOAT DOG". Boo is a Portuguese Water Dog/Lab Cross: very friendly! Boo is on board most of the season but can stay on land if there is an allergy issue with a guest (although she is fairly hypo-allergenic compared to other breeds, as Portuguese Water Dogs have hair akin to human hair.) She loves to kayak, and when home in Gustavus loves to romp on the beach and play with her fellow Alaskan buddies.
(1600 Ton Master, Oceans), Naturalist Captain Justin Smith's maritime career has taken him all over the world, from Alaska to the North Atlantic, the Caribbean Sea, French Polynesia, New Zealand, the Southern Ocean and Antarctica. He has traveled most of these miles under sail as a crew member or captain on several traditional tall ships. His home is in Gustavus and Glacier Bay. He has explored the bay by kayak, on foot and for eleven years as captain of an NPS research vessel. He is also an accomplished woodworker and musician.
Captain Colleen Allard
Captain Colleen has been sailing on educational tall ships since her graduation from Cornell University in 2002. Over the last 10 years she has sailed extensively along the east and west coasts of North America, as well as throughout the Caribbean, Mexico and French Polynesia. Her love of sailing stems from the semester she completed in college as a student with the Sea Education Association of Woods Hole, Massachusetts. She has worked her way up to Chief Mate at SEA and also serves as Program Director of the SEA’s Science at Sea High School Program. In 2008 she worked in Southeast Alaska and has been looking for a way back ever since. She is very excited to be joining the Sea Wolf. When not sailing, Colleen enjoys hiking, traveling, painting, singing and spending time with family and friends.

Engineer Zach Lenning
Zach Lenning was born in Sitka, AK, and raised in a small bush community in Southeast Alaska. He spent most of his summers growing up commercial fishing with his Dad and sister, Angie. He began learning how to run boats at a young age, and since then has owned and operated two fishing boats and worked on everything from boats to airplanes. He was most recently an auto mechanic in Gustavus, Alaska, building and running his own shop. A veteran of many years on the ocean, he is looking forward to spending some time on the water again, sharing his love of boats and nature with you.

Marilyn was born in England, later moving to the United States. She worked as a Paramedic for fifteen years before becoming an emergency medical instructor. Over the years she has traveled extensively from the Arctic to Antarctica, enjoying the natural world and making illustrations of much of the wildlife she has seen. She operates the successful online art business Wild Inkwell (www.wildinkwell.com). Marilyn started a Children's Naturalist club while living in central New York, “The Art of Nature.” The program is designed to introduce children to nature by helping them to create a naturalist journal. Marilyn offers shipboard art instruction during your adventure and will help you work on your adventure journal as well. She will guide a few of your kayaking explorations. This will be Marilyn’s sixth year working on the Sea Wolf. She currently lives with her husband in Dayton, Ohio.

Carole Gibson has been guiding wilderness sea kayaking trips in Southeast Alaska since 2001. Born and raised in Colorado, her love for exploring the outdoors started at a young age. She has continued her outdoor adventures by teaching snow boarding in the Rockies, guiding sea kayaking trips in Baja California, Mexico, and leading three month University programs in South America, Central America and India. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Physical Therapy, however her love for Southeast Alaska and sharing all of the wonders the wilderness holds is what keeps her coming back as a guide year after year. Carole is graduating soon and we feel lucky she is gong to be coming back to guide our clients for one more year (her 6th) before she starts work as a Physical Therapist.
Jenny Hahn: Author, Artist Professor, Naturalist and Kayak Guide
Writer Jenny Hahn has more than 25 years of wilderness travel under her boots and kayak hull—including through-hiking the Pacific Crest Trail from northern California to Canada and kayaking solo from Ketchikan, Alaska, to Washington. She relies on wild harvesting to keep her pack and kayak light. Currently she is an adjunct professor at Western Washington University's Fairhaven College, teaching courses on northwest wild food. Jenny has guided with the Sea Wolf for many years. This year she will be our Naturalist/Guide during July and part of August, including a special repeat Wild Harvesting Expedition (7/29-8/03). This was an amazing adventure last year!
Anna is starting her 3rd season with us. Born and raised in Texas, Anna started her freshman year of college in 2009 at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington. She is studying Anthropology. Her interests and hobbies include international affairs, environmental studies, playing the clarinet, reading, biking, walking, traveling, cooking, and watching movies. At the University of Puget Sound she participates in the University Wind Ensemble and the Honors Program. Anna’s future plans include traveling the world, and finding time to read all the books on her shelves. She spent a semester in the Czech Republic in 2011, and we cannot wait to hear about that once she is back on board.

Engineer Keith Weyrick : Keith is retiring and heading to Miami to take care of his family. He will be missed, the galley will never be the same without his zany humor. He will remain as Port Captain working with Zach until the season starts.
Captain Jodi Wilmouth: Jodi is pursuing other interests this year. We hope she will be back in future seasons.
