KETCHIKAN-JUNEAU OR JUNEAU-KETCHIKAN
2020 10-days / 9-nights
2021 11-days / 10-nights
Explore, discover, and learn about the magical rainforest and ocean ecosystems of Southeast Alaska. This glacial wilderness supports a diversity of wildlife as varied as the landscape. Humpback whales, Orca, Harbor porpoise and Dall’s porpoise, White-sided dolphins, Stellar sea lion, and numerous sea birds are just some of the species sighted frequently on this cruise. In the rainforest, we also hope to see both Black bear and Coastal Brown bears, wolves, elusive wolverines and mountain goats. We average three to four hours of cruising each day. The rest of each day is spent exploring the glacial fjords and bays by kayak or hiking onshore. Our routes and anchorages are chosen to give us the most enjoyable opportunities to experience the rich and diverse environment of this temperate rain forest. We will learn the full story of this place-the spiritual, cultural, natural history, as well as the current threats and their possible solutions.
JUNEAU-GLACIER BAY OR GLACIER BAY-JUNEAU
2020 10/days/9 Nights
2021 11/days/10 Nights
We will explore by cruising, kayaking and hiking both arms and the outer coast of Glacier Bay National Park and down Chichagof and Admiralty Islands on our way to Juneau. We will cruise the glacially scoured shores of the coastal Rainforests of Southeast Alaska. Soaring Mountains capture precipitation creating the lush and mysterious coastal Rainforest. A forest rich with nutrients feeding both the land and sea. We may see Brown bears, Black bears Sitka Black Tailed Deer, Wolves and Moose. Soaring above us majestic Bald Eagles and everywhere migrating birds traveling north to their breeding grounds. Our journeys waters teem with marine life: Humpback, Minke and Finn whales , Orca, Dolphins, Porpoises, Sea lions, Seals and Sea Otters. And that is what we see above the water- the pelagic waters are home to a multitude of creatures some of which we can only see at a low tide.
